Christmas Delivery

Bikes

Our last day for dispatch is Thursday the 22nd of December. We use a next day/express courier for bikes, such as DPD or TNT/Fedex. All couriers are experiencing some delays at the moment so nothing is guaranteed, but these services are intended as a next day service and have been largely delivering as such.

If a bike is ordered before 12pm, we will do our very best to dispatch it on the same day. Again, this is not a guarantee, but we will do our best! If we can't dispatch on the same day, we will dispatch the next working day. Please bear in mind that we are closed on Wednesdays, so no orders are processed or dispatched on those days.

We fully assemble your bike before delivery as though you were going to ride it away from the shop. To get it back into a box for the courier, there is some minor disassembly such as removing pedals and handlebars.

Smaller Items

For pre-Christmas we now strongly recommend you upgrade from our standard post (Royal Mail 48) to either Royal Mail 24 or DPD. Royal Mail have indicated that the last day for Royal Mail 24 should be the 16th, but even that is not guaranteed. To give the best chance of pre-Christmas delivery, we recommend selecting the DPD option.

If your item is in stock and ordered before 12pm, we will do our best to despatch your order the day you place it. Please bear in mind that we are closed on Wednesdays, so no orders are processed or dispatched on those days.

Delivery Information

UK Delivery

If your item is in stock and ordered before 12pm, we will do our best to despatch your order the day you place it. In busy times we tell you how long it will take us to process it.

The above does not apply to bikes, which we have to assemble and inspect before repacking for dispatch. Typically we try to have bike orders dispatched within 3-5 days, but in busier times it may take longer. In those cases we'll let you know of longer than expected delivery times.

Please bear in mind that we are closed on Wednesdays, so no items will be dispatched then.

Free Postage over £40 on small items

For small items we use Royal Mail's 48 service which has a delivery time of typically 2-3 days from dispatch; though you do have the option to upgrade to 24 which is generally next-day from dispatch if you require your order sooner. Please note in some cases the item will need to be signed for, so please provide an address where someone will be in.

Orders of over £40 will qualify for free standard postage with Royal Mail 48. This excludes certain bulky or awkward items (for example shoes and helmets) which will be calculated automatically at the basket screen. Unless stated otherwise, bikes also do not qualify for free postage. Please see below for details on that.

Bike Shipping

When we send out a larger parcel such as a bike or trailer we use a tracked courier such as TNT's next-day service.

For these reasons please supply us with a delivery address where there will be someone in to sign for your parcel. If there is nobody in when the couriers call, they will leave a card. You can then phone them to arrange delivery for another day or collect your goods from your local depot (a photo ID with proof of address will be required).

Outside the UK

Since Brexit it is no longer feasible for our website to have permanent shipping prices for international delivery. Instead, if there is an item you are interested in, please Contact Us with a full delivery address and we will quote for delivery.

All the prices on our website and catalogue are in pounds sterling and are inclusive of VAT, but VAT will be removed for international orders. Please bear in mind you will likely have to pay your country's taxes and import duties for any items.

Click & Collect

We know that many lead busy lifestyles and can't make it to the shop to browse during opening hours, so we've made it easy for you to browse online in the comfort of your own home. You can use the click and collect option to place an order at any time, any day, before collecting from the store at a time that suits you.

How do you do it? It's simple. Add the items you want to your cart, and then select the **collect in store** option below once you're on the basket screen:

Go through the checkout and pay for your items via our secure server. Once the order is placed you will receive a confirmation email. As soon as we're able we'll be in touch by phone or email to confirm with you when your items are available to collect. This could be practically instant, or it could take a few hours/days depending on the item.

If an item you have ordered is unavailable or delayed for whatever reason, we will of course let you know by the usual means of communication.

Once you're ready to collect your items, please bring your confirmation email with you (stored on a smartphone or printed), along with proof of ID (passport or driving license) and the card used to purchase.

Cyclesense is open for business by click & collect only.

Safeguarding you, ourselves and the wider community

Our utmost priority during the coronavirus pandemic is the safeguarding of you, ourselves and the public. We take our responsibilities to the local community and our customers very seriously and we are doing all we can to help prevent the spread of the virus.

With England being in national lockdown, we are open by click & collect only. Our workshop is open for servicing and repairs, but you must email in advance to book into our diary system.

Both stores are locked to the public and there is no walk in service. If you just turn up to either shop without notice we will not be able to serve you (yes, even if it's "just" for an inner tube!). We ask customers to respect that this is purely in the interests of keeping yourselves, us and the wider community safe during the height of a pandemic.

You will be able to call us for advice and help, as you have always been able to do. We are more than happy to advise you on anything cycling related.

Likewise, we will be able to take orders over the phone if there's something you need which isn't listed on our website.

Ordering/Collection procedure:

We have designed a completely contactless procedure in order to keep both you and ourselves safe:

  1. Place your order either on our website or over the phone with one of our sales team.
  2. We will aim to have your order ready for collection within an hour. This will be longer for bikes, which we will advise you of once your order has been processed. We would strongly advise speaking to a member of our sales team before ordering a bike so that we can advise lead times in advance.
  3. We will contact you once your order is ready. We will arrange a mutually convenient time for you to come and collect your order. Please do not come to the shop before we have contacted you.
  4. Please call us once you have arrived in the car park to collect your order. We will then bring your order out to our collection point at the rear of the store.
  5. Collect your order from the collection point.

If you require aftersales assistance with your order, we are happy to advise once you have taken your order home. We can do this by phone, video call... however you want. Please respect that we will not be able to have face to face service when you collect your item. We cannot help you put your bike in/on the car, or make any adjustments on site. We are just here for collections.

Children's Store

As with our high street store, we'll be on hand to answer any and all of your children's bike/accessories questions by phone/email.

Children's bikes: High quality children's bikes have been incredibly hard to get hold of since March, but we are lucky to have good relationships with suppliers and have lots of bikes on order. Give us a call or email with any questions you might have regarding sizing, models, ordering or anything else! Browse our full range of children's bikes here.

Children's helmets: As we are not able to supply our usual service at the shop, please have a look at our children's helmet section here. Measure your child's head in centimetres around the widest point of their head just above the brow. Get in touch with us and we will be able to discuss options/sizing. You can place an order either to collect in store, or to have it shipped.
