Christmas Delivery

Bikes

Our last day for dispatch is Thursday the 22nd of December. We use a next day/express courier for bikes, such as DPD or TNT/Fedex. All couriers are experiencing some delays at the moment so nothing is guaranteed, but these services are intended as a next day service and have been largely delivering as such.

If a bike is ordered before 12pm, we will do our very best to dispatch it on the same day. Again, this is not a guarantee, but we will do our best! If we can't dispatch on the same day, we will dispatch the next working day. Please bear in mind that we are closed on Wednesdays, so no orders are processed or dispatched on those days.

We fully assemble your bike before delivery as though you were going to ride it away from the shop. To get it back into a box for the courier, there is some minor disassembly such as removing pedals and handlebars.

Smaller Items

For pre-Christmas we now strongly recommend you upgrade from our standard post (Royal Mail 48) to either Royal Mail 24 or DPD. Royal Mail have indicated that the last day for Royal Mail 24 should be the 16th, but even that is not guaranteed. To give the best chance of pre-Christmas delivery, we recommend selecting the DPD option.

If your item is in stock and ordered before 12pm, we will do our best to despatch your order the day you place it. Please bear in mind that we are closed on Wednesdays, so no orders are processed or dispatched on those days.

Delivery Information

UK Delivery

If your item is in stock and ordered before 12pm, we will do our best to despatch your order the day you place it. In busy times we tell you how long it will take us to process it.

The above does not apply to bikes, which we have to assemble and inspect before repacking for dispatch. Typically we try to have bike orders dispatched within 3-5 days, but in busier times it may take longer. In those cases we'll let you know of longer than expected delivery times.

Please bear in mind that we are closed on Wednesdays, so no items will be dispatched then.

Free Postage over £40 on small items

For small items we use Royal Mail's 48 service which has a delivery time of typically 2-3 days from dispatch; though you do have the option to upgrade to 24 which is generally next-day from dispatch if you require your order sooner. Please note in some cases the item will need to be signed for, so please provide an address where someone will be in.

Orders of over £40 will qualify for free standard postage with Royal Mail 48. This excludes certain bulky or awkward items (for example shoes and helmets) which will be calculated automatically at the basket screen. Unless stated otherwise, bikes also do not qualify for free postage. Please see below for details on that.

Bike Shipping

When we send out a larger parcel such as a bike or trailer we use a tracked courier such as TNT's next-day service.

For these reasons please supply us with a delivery address where there will be someone in to sign for your parcel. If there is nobody in when the couriers call, they will leave a card. You can then phone them to arrange delivery for another day or collect your goods from your local depot (a photo ID with proof of address will be required).

Outside the UK

Since Brexit it is no longer feasible for our website to have permanent shipping prices for international delivery. Instead, if there is an item you are interested in, please Contact Us with a full delivery address and we will quote for delivery.

All the prices on our website and catalogue are in pounds sterling and are inclusive of VAT, but VAT will be removed for international orders. Please bear in mind you will likely have to pay your country's taxes and import duties for any items.

Click & Collect

We know that many lead busy lifestyles and can't make it to the shop to browse during opening hours, so we've made it easy for you to browse online in the comfort of your own home. You can use the click and collect option to place an order at any time, any day, before collecting from the store at a time that suits you.

How do you do it? It's simple. Add the items you want to your cart, and then select the **collect in store** option below once you're on the basket screen:

Go through the checkout and pay for your items via our secure server. Once the order is placed you will receive a confirmation email. As soon as we're able we'll be in touch by phone or email to confirm with you when your items are available to collect. This could be practically instant, or it could take a few hours/days depending on the item.

If an item you have ordered is unavailable or delayed for whatever reason, we will of course let you know by the usual means of communication.

Once you're ready to collect your items, please bring your confirmation email with you (stored on a smartphone or printed), along with proof of ID (passport or driving license) and the card used to purchase.

Cycle touring is brilliant. Here's why...

6 Reasons to go cycle touring

Why not try something different for your next holiday? Whether you like cycling on the roads or off them, cycle touring is an enjoyable experience for anyone who loves cycling.

1. Visit new places

bike touring

Cycle touring enables you to explore areas you wouldn't be able to go in the car. Whether it's high mountain passes in the pyrenees, the vineyards of Tuscany or riding through the Gobi desert, cycle touring lets you go places surrounded by incredible scenery that you wouldn't be able to access any other way. You can cover more ground and carry more luggage than walking and you can ride on tracks and paths that cars can't pass through.

2. See everything

Because of the amount you're carrying and the distances you're travelling, it's fairly likely you're not going anywhere quickly. Riding slow is good in this instance though, as it allows you to take in your surroundings and see all the details around you. Everything looks better from a bike and there's few things more serene than riding up and down the rolling hills of a beautiful valley on a nice day.

3. Eat more of the local cuisine

You might be riding your bike 8 hours a day which means you could be burning up to 5000 calories. This is bliss if you like food (and who doesn't like good food?) as it means you can sample almost unlimited amounts of the local cuisine and not feel bad about it afterwards.

4. You'll get fit and strong fast

why cycle touring

Guess what? Riding up and down hills for a few hours a day two weeks straight makes you stronger. Not just physically, but mentally too. When I threw myself into the deep-end and did Land's End - John o'Groats, the first 3 days in the hills of Cornwall and Devon were tough on the mind and body and involved a lot of getting off and walking. However, it made me tough enough to complete the rest of the journey. 5 years later I can look back on those 3 days and realise nothing I do on a bike will ever be as physically and mentally challenging as that was, which has certainly helped my cycling since.

5. Meet people

Cycle touring is always a good way to meet new and likeminded people. With touring there's always something to break the ice - whether it's where you're going or where you've been or what bike you're riding, there's always something to talk about. I even got a night of free camping when I told the campsite owner what we were doing!

6. Total freedom and independence

Cycle touring

When touring you can pretty much decide what you want to do and where you want to go on a day-by-day basis. You can take a rest day whenever you like and you can go as far as you want. It's totally up to you. Being fully self-sufficient is also strangely enjoyable. Learning how to look after and fix your bike is a useful skill to learn and touring forces you to do it (unless you're riding with someone who does it all for you, of course!).
